Wolfram Industrie WNiFe: Ready for additive manufacturing with tungsten

To make tungsten usable for more demanding geometries too, and so increase the efficiency and durability of components, Bayerische Metallwerke GmbH, part of Traunstein-based Gesellschaft für Wolfram Industrie mbH, has developed a new manufacturing process for the tungsten alloys WNiFe and WNiCu and had it patented in early 2021. Its distinguishing feature is that the multi-phase solid-solution alloy is obtained as a powder suitable as a starting material for 3D printing and coating processes.

High demand for TIG electrodes

Wolfram Industrie expands production capacities. After a search of several years for a suitable site, construction work on the new headquarters of Gesellschaft für Wolfram Industrie mbH began in Nussdorf in autumn 2020. The new building is planned with a usable floor area of 7,000㎡, offering around 40% more space than the current headquarters in Traunstein.
